Defects in Lamellar Phases of the Bi$_{2}$Те$_{3}$—Te Eutectics

Morphology of the surface of eutectic of the Bi$_{2}$Те$_{3}$—Te systems is investigated. This eutectic has lamellar phases of Bi$_{2}$Те$_{3}$ and tellurium. The (0001) surface of Bi$_{2}$Те$_{3}$ phase has self-organized nanoislands, and telluride plates have 3D-pores. The orientation of the phases in the near-boundary areas leads to formation of suprastructures of these elements (Bi$_{2}$Те$_{3}$ and Te). As a result, the imperfection in the arrangement of atoms between the phase plates is increased that causes an elastic deformation of the substructures. Nonadditivity of thermoelectric power and conductivity of eutectic is detected in comparison with its components; thermoelectric power and electrical conductivity increase. Thus, the supramolecular concept of Bi$_{2}$Те$_{3}$—Te eutectic is supported.
