Kinetics of Crystallization of a Bulk-Amorphized Cu$_{47}$Ni$_{8}$Ti$_{34}$Zr$_{11}$ Alloy in Conditions of Chill Casting

The results of computational analysis of the crystallization kinetics of bulk-amorphized Cu$_{47}$Ni$_{8}$Ti$_{34}$Zr$_{11}$ alloy under gravity die-casting are presented. As shown, within the ingots of different thicknesses, three types of microstructures are formed: conditionally amorphous, amorphous—nanocrystalline and microcrystalline ones. The dependences of the crystals’ number per volume unit and their average sizes on the thickness of ingots are determined. Estimated values of the critical thickness of amorphized ingots are consistent with available experimental data.
