The article contains examples of how the study of phase-equilibria diagrams, structure and properties of metals (Cr, Mo, W, Fe, Ni, Co) with carbides of refractory metals of IV—V(A) groups (TiC, ZrC, HfC, VC, NbC) is the basis of design and fabrication of alloys for mechanical engineering.
