In this study, the electronic and magnetic properties of the mineral rhodonite (MnSiO3) are analysed, using both experimental and theoretical approaches. The investigation employs the experimental Faraday’s method and theoretical DFT + U calculations. The inverse magnetic susceptibility χ -1(T) of rhodonite is found to follow the Curie-Weiss law. A distinct anomaly is observed in the χ -1(T) curve at 735 K, indicating a polymorphic phase transition from rhodonite to pyroxmangite, which is further confirmed by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) analysis. The electron density of states is found to be asymmetric. Based on its electrical characteristics, rhodonite exhibits a wide band gap, indicating that it behaves as a dielectric mineral.
