Numerical calculations of the electrical-noise power in mesoscopic normal metal—insulator—superconductor structures are performed. The influence of temperature on the value of current fluctuations in a tunnel junction is studied. As shown, the voltage dependence of the noise spectral density in the low-frequency limit has two maxima. The first one corresponds to the energy gap of the superconductor and reflects the behaviour of the tunnel-junction conductance, whereas the second one appears at higher voltages as a result of superposition of the thermal and shot noises.
Key words: thermal and shot noise, spectral density of noise, tunnel contact, superconductors.
