The article presents the results of developing the technology for growing super-large single crystals of refractory metals, which is developed at the E. O. Paton Electric Welding Institute of the N.A.S. of Ukraine. Based on the acquired experience, a new generation of equipment is created and allows the growth of single crystals of refractory metals in the form of bodies of rotation. Experiments are carried out on growth of a single crystal of tungsten in the form of a hollow cylinder as a pipe blank for manufacturing elements for the energy industry. Technological parameters and energy regimes are established, which made it possible to control the thickness of the growing wall. As a result of the experiments, an ingot with a wall height of 68 mm, a thickness of 20–22 mm, and an outer diameter of 85 mm is grown.

Key words: tungsten, single crystal growth, plasma-induction zone melting, hollow body of rotation.
