The equations for predicting the thickness and microhardness of the hardened coating, surface roughness and continuity are proposed. They are allowed determining the main qualitative parameters of the formed coating according to the energy parameters of the installation of electrospark alloying. The recommended algorithm allows to determine the most rational way of forming of surface layers with a required quality. The technique is tested for the formation of coatings on the cathode from steels 20 and 40 using aluminium as an anode.
Key words: electrospark alloying, aluminizing, coating, microstructure, continuity, roughness.
